I was born in Southern Ontario in 1968.
I studied Illustration at Sheridan College in Brampton, Ontario with additional classes at the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit, MI.
My Statement
In the end, the paintings will say more than I can. On this page, I’ll try to provide some context.
Much of my work is about capturing the light or finding the second layer of meaning in everyday situations. Everyone is capable of profound thought, experiencing intense beauty, being consumed by pain, or pleasure. I’m lucky enough to have been given the ability to capture those things on canvas. As a regular working guy with 2 kids, a 9 to 5 and a mortgage, I am in an amazing position in that I have the ability to bring a world of mundane, real life experiences to light. I paint what ordinary people experience. There is nothing special about my life; I’m not rich, overly privileged or the recipient of a degree proclaiming my brilliance.
A prolonged stare, dream, memory, distraction or momentary glimpse of truth provide my inspiration. My goal is to share these visions with you in as intense a manner as possible. I’ve succeeded if you feel something. I don’t particularly pursue a given direction with rigor but have noticed that certain themes have emerged and I’m sure others will even after I write this.
I'm hoping to organize my paintings along certain themes a bit more in the future.
